Prof. Dr. med. dent.

Piotr Fudalej is currently Adjunct Professor at the University of Bern, Professor of Orthodontics at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland (since 2019) and at Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic (since 2016). From 2012 to 2019, he was a Privatdozent at the University of Bern.

He is president-elect of the European Orthodontic Society, the largest professional association of orthodontists in Europe. As president, he will organize the society’s 100th congress in 2025.

He works part-time in an orthodontic practice in Warsaw, Poland

He graduated from the faculty of dentistry at Medical University of Warsaw, Poland, in 1991.

He completed a specialization in orthodontics at the University of Washington, in Seattle, USA, in 1998.

He holds two PhD degrees – the first was awarded in 1999 at the Medical University of Lublin, Poland, and the second in 2011 in the Netherlands at Radboud University Nijmegen.

He was habilitated at Palacky University Olomouc in the Czech Republic in 2012. Next year he received habilitation at the University of Bern.

He teaches the subject of orthodontics, both students and orthodontic colleagues in Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Poland. He has supervised the research of numerous master and doctoral students from these countries.

Piotr Fudalej is the author of more than 100 scientific articles and several books or book chapters in the field of orthodontics. He has lectured in Europe, North America and Asia.

He is the initiator/leader/co-scientist of numerous international, scientific projects:

  1. Mapping craniofacial growth with geometric morphometrics
  2. 3D modeling of facial growth in growing population – mixed-longitudinal cohort study
  3. Effect of interceptive strategies on the clinical outcome of impacted maxillary permanent canines.
  4. Survival rate of 2 types of fixed retainers – a randomized clinical trial
  5. Early alveolar bone grafting in cleft lip and palate

He is a member of the following professional societies:

  2. American Association of Orthodontists
  3. American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association
  4. International Association for Dental Research
